The story behind the image

Véronique discovered photography at 16. For many years, she pursued a career in the public service and became a director, while never abandoning her sensitive way of looking at the world.

In 2016, her life changed: multiple sclerosis, brain lymphomas, intensive treatments and an autologous stem-cell transplant. Known to her loved ones as ‘the miracle woman,’ she chose to make this ordeal a new beginning.

Her camera became an instrument of gratitude. She waits for a gaze, a posture and that rare light that turns an encounter into a lasting emotion. Her work celebrates the beauty of life while reminding us of its fragility.

She supports health-related causes and shares her story, notably before 550 guests at the CHUM gala. As a Light The Night spokesperson, she puts her journey at the service of those facing hardship.

Her taste for pushing beyond limits began long ago: in 2009, she entered the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles, a GPS-free desert navigation adventure that already revealed her determination and instinct.

Her commitment

Turning hardship into a message of hope.

Brain damage caused by the lymphomas led Véronique to retire earlier than expected. This transition allowed her to return fully to photography and fulfil her dream of observing African wildlife.

She speaks to organisations and companies to share a message of hope. At the CHUM Foundation’s annual gala, she told her story before 550 guests; the evening raised 1.5 million dollars.

Rallye des Gazelles · 2009

Eight days in the desert without GPS.

At the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles, an all-women navigation competition, only topographic maps and a compass are allowed. Each day, participants must find eight markers while travelling the shortest possible distance.

This Moroccan adventure already embodied what drives her work: a taste for challenge, observation, patience and trust in instinct.
